My Largest Piece Yet! Part 2…

The completed piece of art after 200+ hrs of needle felting, and hand-sewn embroidery details.

I finally completed the gift for the woman from whom I have learned all I know about this art medium. The hundred percent wool canvas did shrink slightly in the process and the entire piece finished at 16.25 “x 20.25”.

The wagon wheel gates, french knot flowers, pasture gate and fence, and the flowers on the Texas Mountain Laurel were hand-sewn using embroidery thread. The Living Felt sign on the Barn, the address marker, and year Est marker were made from my stash of CosClay. I poked holes in the clay before curing and then used metallic DMC embroidery thread to sew them into place.

I delivered it personally to her on September 27th, 2023. My hope that she would enjoy and treasure it for years became a reality. Marie was so grateful for the 200+hrs of time I dedicated to creating this beautiful artwork. Marie was gracious in accepting it and her many employees oogled over it as well. Marie stated that she would have it custom framed and put behind museum glass, which deeply honored me that she would go to that expense to protect it.

Marie Spaulding and Noelle Russow. The delivery of the gift! Yay!

It was a wonderful way to give back a little something for all she has done for me and the community that she has built around her company. I even received an honorable mention and photograph in her newsletter. I’m humbled, to say the least…

Here can you view my time-lapse video of most of the project…
